Your share
Simply - a bag of food you pick up
weekly. You buy a share of the harvest, in advance.
Each CSA share consists of 15-20 weekly
bags/boxes of fresh high quality produce. That's 15 regular weekly
bags/boxes and 5 special weekly share bags. A target season of 25 weeks is
planned, if the weather and crops cooperate. The weekly share
bag/box should contain a comparative market retail value of $20
worth of produce. The share contents are proportioned upon
harvest volume and will vary through the season and with market
values. Generally each share bag/box will contain enough fresh
produce for one person to consume in 5-6 days.
Each
week in May and running through October you will receive
a share of the harvest, a bag or two of fresh wholesome produce.
As the season changes so do the share sizes. Scheduled deliveries are
available
You periodically may need a little more
produce for the week, additional share bags maybe
purchased for $20 at scheduled drop sites or farm pickup locations.
A limited number of additional bags are made up for shareholders needing
extra produce. Additional bags maybe
ordered/reserved in advance at $20 each (no extra charge) just let us know the week
in advance. |

When you buy
CSA shares in advance you are making a short term investment in a local
business, kind of like underwriting the farming
operational costs and in return receiving generous weekly
shares of fresh food during production season. Not
exactly but you function like an insurance company underwriting
an agreement to risk some financial investment in the farm operation..

Your
share of your investment is to be returned to you as weekly shares of high
quality fresh food, generally with interest.
The chance for crop failure due to weather, animals,
bugs...exists (the risk). Advance purchases of CSA shares
allow
us time to concentrate on
growing and solving little problems to cut risks,
instead of spending precious time out trying to sell and find markets for fresh
food ready to go bad.
-
Advance
Membership subscriptions pay for seeds, fertilizer, water, equipment maintenance, labor,
etc.
-
In return, the farm provides, to the best of
its ability, a healthy supply of, seasonally fresh, healthy produce
